1)Rolex is one of very few independent watch companies that makes ALL of its own movements. It wasn’t until 2005, after nearly a century of making wristwatch chronographs, that Patek Philippe unveiled its own chronograph movements.
2) If Rolex did not make their own movments they would have to sell for three times the price. Steel-cased Rolexes are bargains.
3) I know people with 500 pieces or more,the least expensive are Pateks. Some dislike Rolex’s looks, you can dislike Rolex because they make about 1,000,000 watches a year, but watchmakers say the Men’s movements are superlative.
Comex’s deep-sea divers have, for years, used Rolexes. They do not dive with Patek Philippe Nautiluses, nor Roger Dubuis
Easy Divers. I would have to say that trusting one’s life to a watch is a
pretty good recommendation.And Rolex’s back-up is amongst the best in the business.
I’m neither a Rolex apologist nor defender. They don’t need anybody’s help.
The fact that Rolex watches are common doesn’t bother me, either: I’d
rather see everyone wearing Rolexes instead of Casios.
Wilsdorf’s belief that the client was entitled to the best quality and service started to become the basic principal behind Rolex. This motivation and innovated unique ideas kept him steps ahead of other manufacturers. The crown, the trademarks shows this immediately. It represents the five fingers of a hand, in turn handmade.
Pick up the watch. How heavy is it? 
Does it feel light? Clink? If so, it’s not a real rolex. Most non-real Rolex Watches are not made of gold or steal, so real Rolex watches are much heavier than their non-Rolex counterparts. First Impressions can often be correct. Here’s and example: This is my Rolex Datejust. It has Roman numerals in Gold with a black dial. I love this watch! I asked Avi about it, and he said it was made in the 1970’s. They don’t make them like this anymore. Now new ones have a sapphire crystal, and a faster date-setting mechanism. Otherwise same watch!So don’t forget the basics, how heavy is it? This Rolex Datejust is 93 grams, a nice heavy gold sturdy Rolex that you can feel. That is a Genuine Rolex.
